This pen features a hand finished steel nib.
First Love, the fountain pen.
The color of “First Love” is that beautiful
blue I will never get to see again...
The moment I saw Parker’s Penman Sapphire ink,
I fell in love with it immediately.
It was like the thrill of falling in love for the very first time.
The inspiration of the BUNGUBOX ink, "First Love", came from my desire to recreate this discontinued ink I liked so much.
When I hear the words "First Love", I think of the novella of the same name by the Russian author Ivan Turgenev. It is a story about Vladimir, a 16 year old boy, falling for Zinaida, a woman 5 years his elder.
The story takes place in a lake town near Moscow, where wild roses bloom and the buildings are covered in ivy. Vladimir's feelings for Zinaida grow stronger and stronger in this idyllic environment, only to discover...
With the third iteration of our "First Love" pen,
we were given the opportunity to make it with Sailor's newly developed "hand-finished" steel nib.
Sailor created this new line of steel nibs using a special steel alloy with a goal to provide the same writing experience as their renowned gold nibs. Not only is this a steel nib designed for writing comfort, but each nib goes through the exact same manual finishing and tuning process that their gold nibs go through.
While they write just like a gold nib, they aren't affected by the constantly rising gold prices, giving us the opportunity to offer you high-end pens without having to worry about raising their prices every 6 months 😁
The barrel of the pen is a beautiful blue with fine glitter, and the nib has an engraving of a wild rose reminiscent of Zinaida. The finial is of an ivy leaf in raden, and the cap ring has an engraving of the words "First Love"
I overlayed my feelings for Penman Sapphire ink with those of Vladimir's love for Zinaida as the inspiration for this special pen.
We hope you will "fall in love" all over again with this pen.
